Today I'll be focusing on the topic of "How to legitimize your online store in 2019." If you don't have quality products on your website, then you are already not going to be seen as a legitimate online store because in 2019 its become too easy for someone to post a negative review of your website and bad product.

My six tips to solve this and all problems related to legitimizing your online store are: 1. Have quality products on your websites. 2. You need to offer a money back guarantee on your website 3. Make sure that you have reviews on your websites 4. Make sure that you have responsible customer support 5. Make sure that your store design is good looking 6. Last but not least: Make sure you have transparent shipping information

ADEWALE: So today I'll be focusing on e-commerce and on the topic of how to legitimize your online store in 2019. If you don't have quality products on your website, then you are already not going to be seen as a legitimate online store because it's easy for someone to easily post a negative review of your website on the Internet and easier for people to find that negative review by the quality of a product. So the first step is that you have to have quality products on your websites.


Secondly, you need to offer a money back guarantee on your website. You need to make sure that you display the “money-back guarantee” on every single product page. In South Africa, it is compulsory that you have a money-back guarantee if you sell online because a CPA requires you to let customers return products for any reason - unless if they've already used it (when I say “used” I’m referring to things that are of personal care like perfumes or soap). Obviously there is no money back guarantee for those items. But for anything else, like electronics, shoes, clothing and fashion items you need to offer money-back guarantee. And it will be in your best interest to make sure that you state that on your website – that there is a money-back guarantee for the products – it will help you appear more legitimate.


Number three. Let's make sure that you have reviews on your websites. Having reviews on your websites shows other people are buying from the website that you actually are trading and there are people who are buying from your websites – showing proof that there are other people purchasing on your website gives other people peace of mind.


Number four, you need to make sure that you have responsible customer support. If you are not responding within two hours, you're not doing yourself any favors. In China, customer service support people respond to you within five minutes in some cases, 30 minutes is pushing it. So you need to make sure you have good, responsive customer support.


Number five, you need to make sure that your store design is good looking. If you're not a Graphic Designer, you can:

- buy a theme for Shopify (if you’re using Shopify) for about $80

- WooCommerce for about a $100 hundred dollars.

Or you can just hire someone and pay them R500.00 for them to help you setup your storefront so that it looks good and it represents your brand very well.


And last but not least. Number six, make sure you have transparent shipping information. You should display your shipping information on every single product page and at the bottom of the website. Okay. You should let customers know how long items take to be delivered. If you shipping time is about three days put there that it is going to be delivered in three to five working days because it's better to under promise and over deliver than to over promise and under deliver.
